hyperallergic:

Meg Saligman, a photo by Tom Crane of her mural “Common Threads” (1998) This 8-story mural in Philadelphia was funded by the city’s Mural Arts Program, which has developed over 3000 of murals for the city of Philadelphia. The initiative, begun in 1984, was developed as an anti-graffiti campaign and continues today as an educational program for at-risk youth. “Common Threads” is currently in need of restoration, which is being funded through the city, as well as from outside organizations and private donations. I feel like this mural evokes the spirit of International Women’s Day in its depiction of women from across various locations and periods - diverse but mirroring each other in a kind of unity.
